Portland walks
A must visit to Portland Bill and Pulpit Rock. Jutting out into the English Channel at the centre of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, this is a very special place for wildlife and geology. Follow a short circular walk along the west and east cliff tops and across the extensive common lands. Discover Pulpit Rock, the remains of a natural rock arch and a blow hole, created by the roof of a sea cave collapsing. Look out to sea across the shambles bank and tidal race, a wild scene particularly in stormy weather and spot sea birds and bottlenose dolphins.
There is parking, toilets and refreshments to close at hand. For up to date information on the wildlife around go to www.portlandbirdobs.blogspot.co.uk/
